I grew up in a little town called Paris, Ontario, Canada. And no, we don’t have an Eiffel Tower, although that would be pretty cool! My main line of work is construction, so writing is my hobby and what I enjoy doing on the side. I’m currently married to my lovely wife and we have a pet bearded dragon named Ziggy. This Book….This Book….This BOOK! Adrenaline Ride! From Page One this book had me in Lila’s pocket. Her hurt, her anger, her determination to protect what she considered hers. Reyes grabbed my emotions from the get go and did not let go. Just as my body would start to calm and my fists would relax (oh yeah, that’s how good Lila was,….my hands balled into fists every time Lila’s did) BAM there goes that adrenaline rush again. This was a hard book to read and an even harder review to write. I would love to be able to give the book 5 stars because I really liked the plot idea and it ended in a way that had me one-clicking the next in the series because I have to know what happens. So, in most instances that might lead to 5 stars. But, as I said it was a hard book to read. Not because it’s in 3rd person Omnipotent POV….I’m used to that POV. It was hard because most of the characters read as immature and a lot of the story development decisions made me feel like I had memory problems.
Now, don’t get me wrong…..I believe it was meant to make me feel that way….I’m just not sure it was necessary or helpful to my read of it. Of course, it wasn’t written specifically for me and there are other readers that adapted to the style and love the series. I’ve been told as I continue on, the series will be comparable to a Soap Opera. And, been asked and agreed to trust the journey. I’ll show you a teaser below with the Author’s intent explained.
So, how do I rate this? I was going to rate it 3.5 Stars, but I’ve decided to compromise and rate it 4 stars because I think this author has the potential to pull a 5 star review out of me. After all….even with the problems I had …it still had me buying the next book. So, I’m going to continue on the journey and give this world a chance to mature and give the author a chance to pull those 5 stars out of me.
