Are you all ready for the last 50%? Yep. I couldn’t put it down again to come update. Let’s see. I think it was around the 78% mark that Delaney decided to rip my heart from my chest and jump up and down on it.

I can only imagine her giggling with glee as she did so, interspersed with her own bouts of ugly sobbing on the floor before returning to cackling as she continued to rip my heart out for what was it? Oh yeah, until about the 92% mark!

Oh no. No ripping the band-aid off here and dealing with things right away. She threw me down on the mat and had me wallowing in it. Snot rag, anyone? I’ve got more than a few.

But like all my favorite authors, at the end of the day, she did finally take a breath, step away, look at my poor bleeding heart and pick it up to stitch it back together, put a polish on it and lovingly place it back in my chest.

So at the end of the read, cause Serena wants to know, I still belong to Blaze. Delaney’s gonna have to bring it when she finally gets to Keaton’s book in order to divide my loyalties. BRING IT! Cause Blaze… swoon.

SORRY! I kinda blinked and hit 50%. And let’s say, you’re only getting me updating you at 50% because real life made me step away from the kindle for a minute.

So, let’s talk bad guys vs rakes. Because Serena wants to know if I’m gonna fall for the bad guy again. (If you don’t know, after reading Delaney’s Crown of Thornes (go get that if you haven’t read it) I demanded the “bad guy” be rehabilitated in his own book.

Now, for me, there’s a difference between a bad guy, and a, let’s just go with the romance lingo of rake. Rakes can be rehabilitated. Rakes are relatable. Rakes can be lovable, charming. Rakes can screw up big time but something still makes you want to see them recover from it. That’s what I fell for in Crown of Thornes. And it was Delaney’s own fault…

Anyway, then there’s the asshole. Assholes are their own breed. Sometimes they are a “bad guy” but not the worst guy and still have saving graces (like a code that they don’t hurt people weaker than themselves).

Bad guys, though, real bad guys, for me, aren’t redeemable. I don’t want them rehabilitated. I want them crushed.

Oftentimes the hero of the book can be a rake or an asshole or just be the good guy, the best guy. But, in my mind, never the bad guy, not the real bad guy.

At 50% I can tell Serena I see Blaze as the best guy. I think he wants to be seen as an asshole. But he’s not. He’s just not.

I can also assure her I’m not gonna be falling for either of the two “bad guys” I’ve seen so far. The real one or the one that I think (hope) will turn into a rake. Even if I have a feeling I’m gonna need to slap him upside his head at least once if he does get to take rake status instead of full blown bad guy.

In my mind, ATM, Delaney has probably provided us two or three rakes (again I really hope it’s three) and 1 other side characters that I might want books for by the end of this one. That I could maybe fall for in those other books. (Being greedy I know.)

But for this book, right here, I belong to Blaze. I’m not even gonna say he belongs to me. He’s too good for that. I’ve gotten on my knees and am submitting. Though let’s be honest again: I did that in the first chapter the moment he moved his chair.
