It’s My BDay!

It’s my birthday and …I’ll cry if I want to…Nah…I don’t want to 😉 It’s a happy, happy day….so….I thought what should I write about?  I know! Something that makes me happy! Well, Books…duh! After all, the word is in the blog name 😉 .  But there are so many to choose from……oh, get real….it’s my birthday and I am in a happy mood and I am all Hyped up so who else am I going to write about other than the Mistress of Hype, herself? Yep! Jenn Hype! If you don’t know that name, yet….learn it…because everyone soon will.  Do you like a good sarcastic wit with butterfly inducing sexy times? Then Hype is the one for you!

I was lucky enough to meet Hype thru one of the Owners of 2OCC Reviews…if you haven’t heard of that blog, yet…well then you must be hiding under a rock so crawl out and go check them out! But, back to my subject.  Hype was one of the authors lucky enough to have a spot at a massive 2OCC Event ( I would say epic but I think every event they do grows in size and scope so, I am going to hold that word in reserve, for now). Hype did the normal game/giveaway program that anyone used to going to one of these events is familiar with except, there was  a lot more sarcasm, laughter and pure craziness to be found on her posts.

So, at a certain point in the event, I find out the Mistress of Hype (no, she doesn’t actually call herself this….but she should 😉 )  feels bad for people that aren’t going to win anything at the event. Now, she already had her debut novel Pressing Adalyn listed as a freebie with Amazon at this point…so anyone could and probably did grab it…but she didn’t think it was enough (if you are smart and start FB stalking her crazy ass, you will find out she has an addiction to giving stuff away…I don’t know if anyone will ever be able to stop her). So, she told the  2One-Click Chicks, as they were known then, that she was going to give everyone and anyone that took part in the event a free copy of her 2nd book in the Pretending Series: Playing Stacey…they just had to message her.

Now, all you bookworms out there…what are free books like for book lovers? That’s right, manna from heaven…so you know my fingers started flying across the keyboard…but, even when someone asks you to message them for something free….it just seems rude to send a short little abrupt message saying “Hey, you’re supposed to give me a free book”. Plus, I had already seen her earlier posts and knew she was hilarious ….so, I didn’t want to be all lame and have her thinking I was boring. So, what did I do?  I might have called her a drug dealer?  OK, I definitely told her she was like a drug dealer giving out the first couple of hits of her product for free to make sure us addicts were good and hooked so we wouldn’t complain when she started charging……or something along those lines….give me a break it’s been months and months and I have had a lot of her product by now…so things get fuzzy….(BOOKS! People, Books…her products are books…gheesh 😉 ).

Now, my approach could have gone a couple ways.  She could have been completely offended and not only refused to answer my message but refused to give me the damn book, too…..and I wanted that book…..I mean don’t tell her this but if she hadn’t given it to us….I was going to buy it, anyway….LOL….Nah! you can tell her…I bought a copy anyway as soon as I finished Pressing Adalyn because I saw the talent and wanted to support it. (Ah, crap…don’t tell her that part….she has this irrational habit of flying of the handle if she finds out people have bought her books when she offered or gave them for free (remember, I told you she had her own addiction to giving stuff away.)  But, back to her reaction: She wasn’t offended…she loved it….she declared we were going to be BFF’s…she could tell just from one message.  Now, I have since learned that not only does she have a real BFF (heart-broken here Mish sniff) but she also has a second addiction to collecting more BFF’s….so, I have to wonder if my message was really as clever as I was lead to believe or if my audience was just easy…….bwhahahaha (Ok, I can already see where this will go….she writes about sexy times but she is not easy! Get that thought out of your minds, right now! ).

Ok, so at this point: I have two free books and a new chat buddy (actually, it was about this time that I had found a whole group of chat buddies….but that’s a story for a later time).  What I didn’t have was time to read.  It was incredibly frustrating…I had several books that were waiting for me and calling to me and every time I tried to get a start….something would come up….the universe has a wicked sense of humor sometimes.  But, I already knew I was going to be falling in love with these books…I could just tell from the synopsis and the excerpts and OMG those teasers and trailers…if you haven’t seen them go look….the article will be here when you get back 😉 .  During this time, I had started to share all things Hype on my personal timeline (this was in the days before FB decided I had to have a page for pimpin’) and the whole time I had Hype in my ear telling me to “shut up….you might not even like the books IF you ever get around to reading them”….Like WTF? Was she seriously crazy….I hadn’t even read them yet and knew just from the snippets I had seen, I was about to garner another addiction of my own….meaning: all things Hype.  But, this is how it is for some authors…..they hope they have a good book, they think they have a good book, they love it, they hear others love it, but you can’t please everyone, right? And, what if I was that one? Well, it wouldn’t have been the end of the world but I had no such worries.

So, to make a long story …even longer …because let’s face it there is no way I can make this one short at this point…I finally found a moment to myself to sit and read….and a moment turned into an hour and an hour turned into another hour and so forth and so on …until I was flipping the last page….with a smile not just on my face but in my heart because lord help me that twist….it gave me all the girly….mushy…googly-eyed feels. Now, looking up and realizing I had stayed up all night and now had a whole day to face without sleep didn’t give me any of those same type of feels….but, later realizing I had suffered my first Hype induced book hangover? That was something special.

So, as a present to all the Book Landers and book lovers out there…I am going to post my review of the first Hype book I ever read… those many months ago and I strongly recommend that after reading the review…(I promise…it is much shorter than this post 😉 ) …that you go grab a copy of Pressing Adalyn, read it and don’t stop reading her stuff….it just gets better and better!

Pressing Adalyn: The Pretending Series-BK1

by Jenn Hype

Find Me, Ian!!!!

Pressing Adalyn was my first foray into the world of Jenn Hype and it was a doozy.  Have you seen her teasers and trailers?  If not, you should.  Her debut novel Pressing Adalyn doesn’t just introduce you to the world of her characters…it also introduces you to the mind of Jenn Hype, herself.  Her sarcastic wit, her crazy banter, her softness, her toughness…it’s all in there….so it’s like you’re making a new best friend.  On top of that you get an awesome book boyfriend….so, swoon for Ian.  Just when you think he can’t get any better….he blows your  mind and leaps tall buildings.  So, Pressing Adalyn is a definite recommend in my book, as are everything else that has or might come out of this awesomely talented, hilariously sarcastic woman.

DANCER FRONT.pngDANCER by Jamie Schlosser
Series: The Good Guys; Book 2
Genre: New Adult, Contemporary Romance
Cover Design: Star Bound Books
Release Date: December 8th, 2016

Technically, I’m not a stripper. As a cage dancer, I don’t take all my clothes off and no one gets to touch me. I’m just the eye-candy.

And I can feel their eyes on me. I know they’re watching, but I don’t do this for them.

This is my time.

My life may not have turned out the way I thought it would, but I’m not complaining. From 9pm to 1am several days a week I get paid to feel sexy, to feel desired, to do what I love.

I always knew I wanted to be a dancer—I just didn’t realize I’d be doing it in a cage.

Erectile dysfunction—two words that can cause a collective cringe from men everywhere. The doctors can call it ‘performance anxiety’ all they want, but that’s just a fancy way of saying my dick doesn’t work.

Just when I start to think there’s no hope for me, I see her. She’s gorgeous, sexy, and goofy as f*ck. She also looks really familiar but I can’t put my finger on it.

When I find out who she really is, my world is turned upside-down and everything seems to fall into place.

She’s not gonna make it easy for me, but I’ve never been one to back down from a challenge. She’s convinced I won’t stick around.

I’ll prove her wrong.
I’ll show her I’m one of the good guys.

*Although Dancer is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone.
